Resume layout examples

Get guideline through Resume layout examples, it helps

The resume format is the only tool that grabs the attention of a hiring manager and makes it clear of you being the best candidate or suitable applicant for the job. Even if there is a gap due to personal reasons or may be due to job hopping as a path of career that has shown some turns and twists, choosing the appropriate resume layout examples helps in formatting the resume so that the hiring manager or the recruiter is convinced at one glance.

Resume format importance

The resume formats do work better than emphasizing your abilities in particular. Your choice is based on the career level, job history and work experience. The description of the job may bring a real difference. However, for some jobs, highlighting the specific skills becomes inevitable, while for some jobs, there is a requirement to demonstrate the relevant experience.

Now, the question that arises in your mind is that which format to use. Though there are many resume layout examples, you must know to pick the right layout.

Resume layout types

There are different layout types of resumes and this includes functional, chronological and combination resumes.

  • Functional resumes concentrate on skills. They focus your different skills or experiences. Functional resumes are ideal choice for people having gaps in their employment history, or for people whose work history does not relate the job.

  • Chronological Resumes are acceptable when you do not give much thought to other resume layouts. It means you can present your resume in a chronological format. Actually, this is the common type that is widely used. The work history is listed in reverse chronological order (keeping at the top the recent work history)

  • Combination Resumes present a mix of the functional and chronological formats. They offer chronological list of your work history, but also include sections focusing on different skills.

Resume layouts with profiles and headlines

The fact is now known that recruiters just spend hardly six seconds in going through a resume to consider it yes or no. this is the reason many candidates highlight their relevant skills at the resume top.

  • A resume profile refers to a brief statement highlighting the experiences and skills to see you as an ideal candidate.

  • A resume headline refers to a phrase summarizing why you are the right candidate. Headlines used by candidates having lots of experience and skills are beneficial as they get to reveal their best points. However, even candidates with minimal experience can highlight their attributes.

  • A resume layout can include both profile and headline giving the hiring manager the right information.
