The primary role of the inventory clerk is to manage the inventory control system, maintain product data, ratify miscalculation, review and analyse results of operations, report findings and make suggestions to the management. Responsibility and duties:-

These are the main part of this job.

Review and apply inventory activities as per the need. If you need more inventory you should tell the manager, who can provide you with more of the inventories including movements and delegation.

You should commit to maintain and update inventory records. Every day record has to be maintained and recorded as per the dates. Priority of an inventory clerk is to maintain the records with accuracy.

Develop and implement efficient inventory management procedures. These are to classify the steps you have taken to the procedure so that your subordinates can learn from it as given in the task.

Implement a loss prevention program. This is very important that if in your work period or before your period you have a loss, by chance, you should make a program in which you can tell others what to do and not do.

Report any stock issues to management, as sometimes people try to solve it on their own. This is wrong the procedure says that you should tell your management so that they can figure out and then what will they order you should follow that order to prevent that issue.

Qualification and skills

High school diploma/GED required.

Two plus year of experience in inventory control.

Proficient in Microsoft Office in Word and Excel especially.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills as they have to maintain records and verbal because of the public or professional relations with client and the inventors.

Able to work on irregular or extended hours during the season which is very essential which can include weekends and nights if needed.

Physical strength is also a matter of this a job as you have to lift a minimum of fifty pounds without restriction. If you are able to do this stuff you are automatically eligible for the job of inventory clerk.

Additional responsibilities of inventory clerk:-

Depends on the size of the business, inventory clerk may be responsible for maintaining inventories in a number of stores. This sometimes includes travelling so he/she needs a driving licence also.

Training:-

As an entry-level position, an inventory clerk job requires only a high school diploma. He/she receives an industry-specific, on the job training once he/she gets the job. Some firms are there who want there inventory clerks to be updated business knowledge so that he/she can perform daily activities without training and it will somehow help the business in shifting less time in training.

Familiarity with the data base, spreadsheets, Ms word, excel and computerised things will also help in enhancing the job profile for the candidate.

So he/she are going to be trained and make skilled but if they have the prior experience they will have more advantages in the job than before.
