Backend Developer

VIPTutors was launched in 2019 out of City Launch Lab in London with the mission to empower the education industry by providing education firms with an online platform for on-demand tutor sourcing and collaboration tools. Education organisations can use VIPTutors to launch new courses, save costs and improve student satisfaction with best-in-class tutors.

VIPTutors has been helping students in Asia since 2019. Our tutor community grew to over 1,700+ tutors from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Oxford and Cambridge, strengthened its onsite China sales team and consultants team and remote workforce in the Philippines to 40+ associates. We have expanded our operation to China with the establishment of 2 offices in Beijing and Chengdu in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Our client base has grown to include some of the largest Chinese education firms such as New Oriental Education (NYSE: EDU). Were now actively expanding our platform globally to bring the benefits of the VIPTutors platform to education organisations around the world.

The Role

Terms Conditions

• Work Setup: Fully Remote
• Payment: starting offer up to 60K php NETT ; salary raise up to 70k php on fourth month; Possible promotion to tech lead role with 120k salary per month, to be promoted from within
• Hours: weekdays 10am-6pm Manila time ; half day schedule on either Saturday or Sunday
• Contract : immediate hiring ; one (1) year renewable overseas contract, independent contractor (candidates pay their taxes and govt contributions)

Ideal Profile

Technical Skills Required:

• Minimum 3 years experience as Backend Developer
• Minimum 2 years experience in Codeigniter AND Laravel
• Frameworks Libraries: Laravel, phpunit
• Databases: MySQL, Redis/Memcached
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Cpanel
• Tools Technologies: Docker, MessageQueue, Jira
• Fluent in English and Filipino
