Who are we looking for?

We''re looking for a Geologist to join our PH Mining & Geotechnical Group. This role focuses on building and strengthening our Geological business through the delivery of projects, coaching and mentoring our people, and associated technical execution across the Water, Transport, Energy & Resources, Environment and Property and Buildings markets and clients.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Interacting with clients through pursuit, tendering and delivery phases of projects, along with opportunities to address business development tasks in our relationship-oriented business
  • Providing technical mentoring for junior team members to build and develop their skills to ensure the continuing success of the team
  • Preparing proposals and cost estimates for geotechnical site investigations and other geotechnical projects
  • Provide project management for investigation, design, and construction phases of a range of multidisciplinary projects
  • Conduct and/or lead geotechnical site investigations in compliance with AS1**7 standards. Responsibilities include desktop studies, field data collection (geological and geotechnical mapping, hazard identification and mapping, rock mass characterization, borehole logging, slope assessments), as well as the identification, assessment, and stabilization of landslides.
  • Geological analyses, including ground model formulation, terrain analysis, geological and geomorphological mapping, and slope analyses
  • Preparing geological site investigation reports, including laboratory testing management, data processing, assessments of ground conditions and geotechnical design parameters, developing geotechnical design advice and report writing
  • Completing geological models and assessments, including in relation to slope stability, groundwater, and geochemistry
  • Providing support to clients during construction in relation to geological aspects, such as earthworks and foundation installation, compaction quality control and pile installation monitoring
  • Participating in initiatives that lead to improved client feedback, satisfaction, and exceedance of client expectations

  • What you will bring to the team:

  • A bachelor''s degree in geology, engineering geology, or a related field is required. A postgraduate qualification in these disciplines is advantageous.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in geological investigations, covering.
  • Expertise in soil and rock logging per AS1726:2017 standards
  • Capability to conduct geological mapping, including scanline mapping and rock mass classification
  • Experience processing geological data in 3D software such as Leapfrog and Surpac
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and industry-standard geological and geotechnical software, including Slide, Slope/W, and ArcGIS
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
  • Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations
