On the average day, you may:

  • Integrate with, or build out 3rd party APIs

  • Collaborate with teammates, solving problems or implementing new processes and practices

  • Join meetings with clients to understand requirements and add technical knowledge

  • Document features, technical specifications & infrastructure

Required skills/experience:

  • PHP: 2-3+ years, with PHP8.x experience

  • Laravel: 1-2 years+, with v9/10/11 experience

  • Filament/Nova: 6+ months experience

  • MySQL: 2-3+ years experience

  • JavaScript: 1+ years experience

  • Git/Github

Bonus skills:

  • Linux/*nix command line/configuration

  • Build tools, such as Webpack/Vite

  • Vue/React/React Native experience

  • Basic HTML/CSS skills

  • Shopify API experience

  • A creative eye/mind

About you

As a member of our team, we want you to:

  • Get involved with your teammates' projects.

  • Create exciting new websites and bring your thoughts and experience to the table.

  • Work intelligently - using industry standard libraries and frameworks to speed up development, then writing bespoke code for the problems no one else has solved.

  • Have time to play around and improve your skills - you?ll be given training materials and time to expand your skillset.

  • Go home on time - our working hours are 9-6 (9-5 on in-office days) with an hour lunch (flexi-time available), and we're strict about maintaining your work/life balance

Our benefits are pretty good:

  • Free lunches on Wednesday and Fridays.

  • 32 days holiday a year (including bank holidays) + more free days off when we close down between Christmas and New Years Day.

  • A fully stocked fridge of soft drinks and beer, Espresso machine and fresh gourmet coffee/teas to keep you energised

  • Team drinks out roughly every month, and twice yearly team parties

  • Loads of snacks/fruit/sweets to keep you fueled

  • Subsidised gym membership

Some of the nitty-gritty bits:

  • This is a split remote/office role, with 2 days a week (Wednesdays/Fridays) in our central London office

  • This is a mid-weight role and therefore we expect you can work mostly independently with support from our senior backend developer and technical director.

  • Your code should be easily picked up and maintained by anyone on the team.

  • You need to be able to give realistic estimations of time to complete work and communicate openly throughout a project.

  • You'll need to have the right to work in the UK. Sorry, we can't supply a visa.

In terms of knowledge and understanding, we expect you to have:

  • Excellent understanding of PHP and MVC frameworks.

  • Good understanding of using and developing API?s.

  • Good understanding of MySQL.

  • Knowledge of version control systems, specifically Git.

  • Awareness of web markup, including HTML, CSS and JS.

  • Basic understanding of CSS pre-processing, such as LESS/SASS.

  • Good understanding of vanilla JavaScript, and common libraries and frameworks, such as Vue.js, React,, etc.

  • Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with Photoshop/Sketch/Figma is a plus.

  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.

  • Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that site will adhere to them.

Salary range:

£36,000 - £49,000 p/a, depending on experience.
