GRP is made up of rolling operations around the world and is most global group with manufacturing and commercial sites in North America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Asia, and Russia. Our aluminum is the foundation for many products serving customers in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, building and construction, and automotive systems and distribution.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;<br /> <br /> Job Description:<br /> <br /> The purpose of the Sr. Staff Engineer &ndash; Brazing position is to provide technical leadership relative to the development of new clad and brazing sheet products for aluminum heat exchangers, to work collaboratively with internal and external customers on production and application issues, and to assist with day to day lab operations of Heat Exchanger Material&rsquo;s Technical Center located in Lancaster, PA which is a part of the larger Technology Center in New Kensington, PA<br /> <br /> &nbsp;<br /> <br /> Major Activities and Key Challenges Include:<br /> <br /> Utilize heat exchanger design and manufacturing knowledge to identify, develop and lead completion of R&amp;D projects for materials development along with leading implementation in collaboration with technology, manufacturing and commercial team members<br /> <br /> Identify, lead and conduct bench-scale experimental projects which support the development new clad materials for application to heat exchanger and adjacent markets, with focus on automotive, residential and commercial heat exchangers<br /> <br /> Identify opportunities and implement innovative solutions to improve the evaluation methods for the development of clad materials<br /> <br /> Identify opportunities for improvements in clad materials processing within manufacturing facilities and at customer locations.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Forms and leads multi-disciplinary teams, including members from Technology, manufacturing and commercial organizations to accomplish project work and implement solutions.<br /> <br /> Influences senior technology and business unit leaders in new and emerging technology areas and have input into BU specific roadmaps<br /> <br /> Assesses and recommends actions regarding competitive threats and emerging technologies<br /> <br /> Provide functional guidance to lab technicians and support the creation of an engaged work environment<br /> <br /> Organize, prioritize and ensure completion of technical support to operations, sales organization and end customers to understand and resolve quality or performance issues pertaining to clad products.<br /> <br /> Interface with external vendors and suppliers to get work scopes and timing for R&amp;D work defined<br /> <br /> Communicate progress and results through written detailed technical reports, patents, oral presentations, and other publications<br /> <br /> &nbsp;<br /> <br /> Major Customers:<br /> <br /> Global Brazing, Global Rolled Products<br /> <br /> &nbsp;<br /> <br /> Essential Knowledge &amp; Skills/Education:<br /> <br /> Knowledge in aluminum physical metallurgy, engineering properties and applications<br /> <br /> Experience in metallurgical and mechanical characterization of materials including proficiency with use of SEM/EDS and analysis techniques<br /> <br /> Strong interpersonal skills and communications skills are required<br /> <br /> Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment<br /> <br /> Experience in product development gained through industrial research, product development and/or production environments<br /> <br /> Demonstrated ability to develop project plans and to execute to complete work within timeline<br /> <br /> Ability to work with resources within and outside of the program team to accomplish required work<br /> <br /> Ability to lead and influence at multiple levels in the organization<br /> <br /> Hands-on work required: Ability to apply fundamentals and technology into practical solutions and applications<br /> <br /> <br /> &nbsp;<br /> Qualifications<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Basic Qualifications:<br /> <br /> M.S. degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering with 7 years related work experience or<br /> <br /> PhD degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering with 3 years related work experience<br /> <br /> Experience and proficiency with use of SEM/EDS and analysis techniques<br /> <br /> Preferred Qualifications:<br /> <br /> PhD degree in Materials Science &amp;
