This full-time, permanent Manager, Sales Application Engineering - Mechanical Focus career opportunity is at a well-respected industrial manufacturer of environmentally friendly products that reduce pollution, fossil fuel usage and costs. The internet-based engineering software utilized is industry specific and automates the entire sales applications engineering process. Customers enter data in the website. Then, quotes, proposals and follow ups are all automatically provided through the software which allows the Sales Application Engineers to focus on providing the product that is best for the customers. The software allows potential customers to get quotes and proposals in as little as fifteen minutes from the time the customer provides their information. There is no travel associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities should be as follows:
  • Managing, mentoring and motivating the sales applications engineering staff
  • 30% of the time is spent on the telephone with customers (twenty to twenty-five calls daily)
  • Handling Request For Quote inquires
  • Leading meetings with the sales applications engineering staff
  • Assisting customers
  • Reviewing engineering drawings and customer quotes
  • Applying engineering knowledge technically to the company products
  • Investigating customer needs and solving customer problems
  • Analyzing and providing appropriate alternative proposals to company sales professionals


Experience with combustion would be helpful. The background of the successful candidate must include the following:

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 10+ yrs of management experience
  • 5+ yrs of mechanical engineering experience
  • The ability to enjoy speaking to customers on the telephone
  • A strong mechanical aptitude
  • 2+ yrs of industrial sales applications experience
  • Possess a solid work history free of short-term jobs of less than 3 yrs in duration
  • Being a US citizen or green card holder
  • Having a residence within a 45-minute drive

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
MUST HAVE:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering from an ABET Accredited University program is required
Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
12+ years’ experience in specialized discipline.
Experience designing and specifying HVAC and plumbing systems of various sizes and complexities
Professional Engineer License
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and building load simulation programs (IESVE and Carrier HAP preferred)
Understanding and application of building, energy, and mechanical/plumbing codes.
