The Role: Permit Clerk

As a Permit Clerk, you?ll be responsible for handling the end-to-end permit application process for both import and export cargo. You?ll work closely with government agencies and internal teams to ensure that permits are accurate, up to date, and processed within tight deadlines.

This role requires someone who can stay calm under pressure, juggle multiple priorities, and pay attention to even the smallest detail?all while maintaining strong relationships with external authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring all documents are accurate and compliant.

• Act as a liaison with government issuing authorities to monitor progress and resolve issues.

• Maintain a detailed and organized record of all permit activities (applied, issued, pending).

• Work with internal departments to gather supporting documents and track permit needs.

• Proactively monitor timelines and alert relevant parties of pending expirations or delays.

• Stay informed on regulatory updates affecting the import/export of specialised goods.

• Deliver results in a high-interruption, deadline-driven environment.

Candidate Profile

We're looking for a candidate who brings the following:

• Meticulous attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Proven ability to build relationships with government departments

• Experience in a logistics, freight forwarding or import/export environment preferred

• Competency in Microsoft Office and general admin systems

• Matric essential; further logistics/permits training is an advantage
