Job Title: HSE Manager Location: Cape Town Salary: R1,000,000 ? R1,200,000 per annum Industry: Chemical Manufacturing Reports to: Site or Operations Manager About the Role We are looking for a hands-on, experienced HSE Manager to lead and continuously improve all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) systems. This is a senior role in a high-risk chemical manufacturing environment, where safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship are critical. The ideal candidate will be proactive, confident, and passionate about promoting a zero-harm culture , with strong knowledge of South African HSE legislation and chemical process risks. A visible leader on the shop floor, you?ll influence behaviour, ensure legal compliance, and drive safety performance across all levels of the business.

Key Responsibilities Ensure full compliance with OHSA and chemical industry safety standards Lead risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations Oversee emergency response readiness and training Drive process safety and manage critical systems like PTW, LOTO, and confined space entry Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous substances Monitor environmental impact and implement sustainability practices Manage regulatory audits and liaise with government bodies Lead HSE training and workforce engagement Champion a strong safety culture and behavioural safety initiatives Minimum Requirements Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Chemical Engineering SAMTRAC, NEBOSH IGC, or similar certification (advantageous) 10+ years of HSE experience in chemical manufacturing or a similar industry 5+ years in a leadership or managerial HSE role In-depth knowledge of OHSA, MHI, HCS, and process safety Strong auditing, investigation, and reporting skills Valid driver?s license and own transport Ideal Candidate Profile Visible, confident leader with a strong shop-floor presence Proactive and solutions-oriented, able to challenge the status quo Calm and decisive in high-pressure situations Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and coaching skills Analytical, ethical, and highly safety-driven ..

Work directly with a senior cybersecurity specialist to support day-to-day security operations and projects
Create and update critical documentation like policies, procedures, and incident playbooks
