Position Summary Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Dawson Creek & District Hospital. The Patient Care Coordinator facilitates the admission, discharge and patient transfer processes and is responsible for coordinating patient/resident care when necessary. The role facilitates patient flow through the efficient allocation and utilization of beds, ensures adequate staffing levels and supports patients receiving quality care. The Patient Care Coordinator assists the Program Leaders in establishing and maintaining standards of patient care, and is responsible for coordinating the operations in the absence of managers, department heads and senior administrative personnel. Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings, 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00 (rotating) Dawson Creek & District Hospital Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical centre for the Northeast Region of BC. Services include: • Emergency • ICU • Day Surgery • Respiratory Therapy • Primary Care • Acute Care • Diagnostic Imaging • Laboratory Visiting specialists including: • Urology • Dermatology • Pediatrics • Obstetrics and Gynecology Dawson Creek Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000. There are eleven elementary schools, one middle school and one secondary school. The Northern Lights College provides adult education. Before applying for a job with Northern Health, please follow these steps on our Northern Health careers page Qualfications • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. • Current registration with BCCNM • Five years of recent acute care experience with one year supervisory experience. • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience in a supervisory role is an asset. • NRP or willingness to complete within one year. • ACLS/TNCC or willingness to complete in one year. • PALS would be an asset. Skills and Abilities: • Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills. • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship and communication skills. • Ability to promote a safe patient care environment. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the health care team. • Ability to maintain good public relations with family and friends of patients. • Ability to deal with conflict and problem solve independently. • Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
