Overview Our client in the Automotive Industry is seeking a Material Controller to join their team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for optimizing inventory and procurement processes for maximum efficiency to ensure seamless flow of materials from procurement to production. Minimum Requirements Grade 12/Matric Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in materials planning and purchasing within an automotive, engineering, or manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of direct and indirect purchasing Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (QAD, DCIx, etc.) Job Responsibilities Responsible for procuring of materials as well as on-time delivery. Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) schedules based on production forecasts. Responsible for weekly upload of customer demands and resolving issues with customers. Weekly updating of MRP in QAD and ensuring accurate supplier releases.

Monitor inventory levels, send updated releases/place purchase orders to ensure continuous material supply and prevent stockouts. Coordinate with suppliers, procurement teams, and production departments to prevent material shortages or excess stock. Continuous follow-up with suppliers to ensure adherence to the release schedule Track supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality issues. Develop and maintain material planning schedules to align with production requirements.

Manage the procurement of direct and indirect materials, ensuring timely supply and optimal stock levels. Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, and production teams to prevent material shortages or excess inventory. Optimize procurement strategies by analysing cost, supplier performance, and demand forecasting. Analyse demand forecasts and production schedules to adjust material plans proactively.

Monitor freight cost and liaise with the forwarder on achieving optimum container utilization. Ensuring shipment of material. Liaise with the customer on the packing and shipping of P&A requirements. Performing ad-hoc activities as and when required by the supply chain manager.

Supplier and cost management Monthly forecasting of inventory targets Monthly forecasting of freight targets Doing graphical reporting every month end target vs actuals with actions for freight and inventory targets Evaluate and manage supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with quality standards Implement cost-saving initiatives to reduce freight /material costs impacts and improve overall efficiency Track and report key supply chain metrics, including spend analysis and budget adherence. Inventory & Logistics Coordination Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock audits. Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure smooth material flow and correct receipts Maintain close communication with internal teams and suppliers to address any material-related issues. Utilize ERP/MRP systems (QAD, DCIx, etc.) for demand forecasting and supply chain tracking Assist in the continuous improvement of inventory and material management processes.

Key Competencies / Skills: Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple supply chain priorities. ..
