Job Opportunity: Turner Machinist / Artisan ? Cape Town

Are you a skilled Turner Machinist passionate about precision and engineering excellence?

We are looking for a hard-working, experienced Artisan to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in turning, milling, welding, fabrication, fitting, and the manufacturing and assembly of various mechanical components. You will be required to work from samples and drawings, assist with breakdown repairs, and collaborate with fellow Artisans on engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret and analyse mechanical drawings to determine component specifications

• Manufacture components from raw materials

• Design jigs and templates to assist with fabrication

• Mark, measure, and machine metal stock

• Set up and operate machine tools, including drills, milling machines, and lathes

• Disassemble and assembly of machine units

• Use welding equipment to assemble or repair components

• Maintain company machinery and tools

• Inspect components for accuracy and quality

• Log time accurately on job cards and follow company systems and procedures

• Adhere to safety protocols at all times

• Work overtime when required

Minimum Requirements:

• Red Seal Trade Test Certificate or relevant N3/NQF Level 4 qualification

• At least 5 years? post-qualification experience as an Artisan

• Proven experience in Fitting and Turning

• Skilled in the use of metalworking machinery (lathes, milling machines, grinders, drills)

• Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and engineering principles

• Advanced mechanical, troubleshooting, and welding skills

• High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities

• Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills

• Must have a valid driver?s license and reliable transport

• Candidates must reside in or around the Cape Town area
