Position: Inventory Manager
Location: Punjab
No. of Vacancies: 2
Experience: 6 - 10 years (minimum)
Remuneration: 4 - 8 LPA (not a constraint for the right candidate)


Job Responsibilities


Comprehensive Inventory Management:

  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and issuance of construction materials, equipment, and tools for warehouse construction projects, including civil, MEP, and finishing materials.

Material Receipt and Inspection:

  • Receive and verify incoming materials (e.g., concrete, steel, PEB components, tiles, paints, HVAC equipment) against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Inspect materials for quality, quantity, and compliance with specifications before acceptance.

Storage and Organization:

  • Ensure proper storage of materials in designated areas to prevent damage, theft or deterioration.
  • Maintain an organized store layout for easy access and retrieval of materials, including labeling and categorizing items.

Inventory Tracking:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records using manual logs or ERP systems to track stock levels, receipts, and issuances.
  • Conduct regular stock audits to ensure inventory accuracy and report discrepancies promptly.

Material Issuance:

  • Issue materials to site teams and contractors as per project requirements and approved requisitions.
  • Ensure proper documentation of material issuance to maintain traceability and accountability.

Coordination with Project Teams:

  • Collaborate with project engineers, procurement teams, and site supervisors to understand material requirements and ensure timely availability.
  • Communicate with the procurement team to report low stock levels and initiate reordering processes.

Daily MIS Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit daily Management Information System (MIS) reports via ERP to track material usage, stock levels, and store activities.
  • Provide updates on material availability to support project planning and execution.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure all stored materials meet FWS standards for warehouse construction and report any damaged or substandard items to the procurement team.
  • Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) principles to maintain material quality and minimize waste.

EHS Compliance:

  • Adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices in the store, ensuring safe handling and storage of materials (e.g., chemicals, flammable items).
  • Maintain a clean and hazard-free store environment to comply with safety regulations.

Material Handling and Logistics:

  • Coordinate with logistics teams for the safe loading, unloading, and transportation of materials to and from the site.
  • Operate basic material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) as needed, ensuring proper training and safety compliance.

Waste Management:

  • Monitor and minimize material wastage by ensuring proper storage and handling practices.
  • Dispose of damaged or obsolete materials in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.

Vendor Coordination:

  • Assist the procurement team in coordinating with vendors for material deliveries and resolving delivery-related issues.
  • Verify vendor invoices against received materials to ensure accuracy.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain detailed records of all store transactions, including receipts, issuances, and returns, for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for project reviews.

Team Support:

  • Support site teams by ensuring timely availability of materials and tools to maintain project momentum.
  • Assist in training junior store staff or laborers on proper material handling and storage procedures.

Ownership and Accountability:

  • Take full responsibility for the stores operations, ensuring efficient inventory management, minimal wastage, and compliance with project timelines and budgets.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 6 years of experience as a storekeeper or in inventory management, preferably in civil construction, industrial, or warehouse projects.
    • Experience in warehouse construction material management (e.g., PEB components, fire safety equipment, MEP materials) is an added advantage.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic proficiency in MS Excel for inventory tracking and reporting; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
    • Knowledge of construction materials and their storage requirements (e.g., cement, steel, paints, electrical fittings).
    • Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts) is preferred with relevant certification if applicable.
  • Key Attributes:
    • Detail-oriented and organized, with a proactive approach to inventory management.
    • Strong communication skills to coordinate with site teams, vendors, and procurement staff.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Logistical Requirement:
    • Must have own transport for commuting to and managing store operations in Punjab.
  • Added Bonus:

Prior experience in managing stores for warehouse construction projects, with knowledge of specific materials like racking systems, loading bay equipment, or fire safety infrastructure.
