About the Client:

Our client is a well-established company operating in the structural fabrication engineering sector, based in Richards Bay. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee and drive operational excellence across their projects and teams.

Minimum Requirements:

• Trade-Tested Boilermaker OR Mechanical Engineering qualification with strong boilermaking experience (non-negotiable)

• Proven experience in structural fabrication and related engineering environments

• Minimum of 5 years in an operations or supervisory management role

• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Ability to develop, implement, and monitor operational strategies and plans

• Experience in quoting, reviewing, and cost estimation

• Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills

• Valid driver?s license

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations across fabrication and workshop teams

• Manage and lead skilled personnel, ensuring high productivity and safety compliance

• Develop and implement operational plans aligned with business goals

• Drive efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness across all operations

• Handle quoting and tendering processes; review and approve cost estimates

• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery

• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and customer specifications

• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• Strong boilermaking and mechanical fabrication background

• Practical understanding of heavy engineering workflows and challenges

• Hands-on and proactive leadership approach

• Ability to handle pressure and make quick, informed decisions
