About the Opportunity

HBFN is looking for a full-time Land Acquisition & Projects Specialist based in Clinton, BC.

Reporting to the Band Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in advancing land acquisition efforts and managing early-stage infrastructure projects to support community development initiatives.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for identifying, assessing, and coordinating the acquisition of land and planning infrastructure projects that align with the Nation’s strategic goals, including additions to reserve and long-term revitalization efforts.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating land acquisition opportunities, including identifying suitable parcels for purchase or addition to reserve
  • Liaising with government agencies to manage ATR processes and land-related approvals
  • Conducting feasibility assessments to determine land suitability for community development
  • Planning and initiating early-stage infrastructure and capital projects in collaboration with leadership and external partners
  • Collaborating with internal team members, including finance, intergovernmental affairs, and natural resources
  • Supporting strategic initiatives to reconnect displaced members with community land
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth project progression
  • Assisting with logistical planning and reporting related to project milestones and land transactions
About You

To qualify, you will need 3–5+ years of experience in land development, real estate, or project management, with demonstrated knowledge of land acquisition, property assessment, and capital or infrastructure planning.

The following are required:

  • Willingness and ability to work onsite or travel regularly within the Clinton, BC region
  • A valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to undergo a criminal background check

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Familiarity with Additions to Reserve (ATR) processes and Indigenous land-use frameworks
  • Confidence working with government agencies, funding bodies, contractors, and consultants
  • Ability to assess land suitability for development, housing, or long-term planning needs
  • Experience initiating and coordinating capital or infrastructure projects in early stages
  • Background supporting or managing land-based projects for Indigenous or remote communities
  • Strong skills in tracking and coordinating multiple project deliverables simultaneously
  • Knowledge of zoning regulations, permitting processes, and land transaction procedures
  • Experience reviewing or overseeing contracts, agreements, and land feasibility assessments
  • Proficiency in conducting research and analysis to guide land acquisition or development decisions
  • Understanding of Indigenous governance structures or policies, or a demonstrated willingness to learn
