Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Officer to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of our projects across Southern Africa. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong analytical, writing, and organisational skills, and who is fluent in English, German is advantageous. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and project partners to ensure effective coordination, compliance, and communication across all aspects of the Foundation?s work.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse social, economic, environmental, and political developments in Southern Africa.

  • Draft reports on regional developments.

  • Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects.

  • Edit and prepare reports and publications for internal and external audiences.

  • Draft speeches, reports, and correspondence.

  • Conduct project monitoring and evaluation to ensure quality and compliance.

  • Maintain and update the Foundation?s website and social media channels.

  • Organise and coordinate conferences, seminars, and workshops.

  • Prepare and manage project budgets in accordance with donor and internal requirements.

  • Draft meeting minutes, conference reports, and project documentation.

  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met (including VWM, Logframes, Sachbericht, half-year and annual reports).

  • Assist the Director with strategic planning and project execution.

  • Draft agreements, MoUs, concept notes, and donor proposals including logical frameworks.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, or related fields).

  • Proven experience in project management and reporting, ideally in the NGO or development sector.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Written and verbal communication in German - Highly Advantageous. 

  • Strong analytical, editing, and research skills.

  • Experience in budgeting and working with donor compliance frameworks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a cross-cultural team environment.

 

Advantageous:

  • Knowledge of or exposure to international cooperation and donor-funded project environments.

  • German language proficiency (not essential, but beneficial).
