2D and 3D Draughtsman : SolidWorks Revit AutoCAD

Job Title: 2D/3D Design Draughtsman Location:Kempton Park Isando Department: Design / Engineering Reports to: Design Manager / Engineering Manager Type: Full-Time | On-Site Job Purpose: To produce high-quality technical drawings, models, and documentation in both 2D and 3D using AutoCAD, Revit and SolidWorks. The draughtsman will support the design and manufacturing teams by translating engineering concepts and requirements into precise drawings suitable for production, fabrication, and installation. Key Responsibilities: Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical components, assemblies, and structures using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Revise existing drawings as per engineering changes, redlines, or feedback. Prepare fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings with complete bill of materials (BOM). Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and production staff to ensure accurate designs. Interpret technical data, schematics, and site measurements. Maintain drawing files and document control systems in an organized manner. Ensure all designs meet applicable standards and internal specifications. Assist with prototype development and provide technical support during production. Participate in design review meetings and implement feedback efficiently. Apply tolerances, welding symbols, GD&T, and material specifications correctly. Minimum Requirements: Qualification: National Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Draughting, or similar field. Experience: Minimum of 5 - 8 years experience as a Draughtsman in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong experience in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, sheet metal, weldments, drawings). Proficient in AutoCAD 2D drafting for layouts, site plans, and installation drawings. Technical Skills: Understanding of fabrication, machining, sheet metal, and structural steel processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents. Familiarity with PDM (Product Data Management) systems is advantageous. Knowledge of Revit or other design software is a plus (not required unless specified). Key Competencies: High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent time management and ability to prioritize workload. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Problem-solving mindset and proactive approach to design challenges. Preferred: Experience in perimeter security systems, fencing, or enclosure designs. Exposure to ISO or industry-specific design and documentation standards. |
