About the Role
Our client, a leader in sustainable water and chemical treatment solutions, is seeking a Process Engineer with a BEng in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering to join their growing team. Based at their head office in Pretoria, with regular travel to operational sites in the Mpumalanga (Witbank) region, this role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in both technical and client-facing environments.

You?ll play a key role in design, optimization, and on-site operations, as well as supporting or managing projects through planning, implementation, and evaluation phases. A strong foundation in water treatment processes and practical knowledge of project management are critical to succeed in this hybrid technical role.

What You?ll be doing:
? Conduct process assessments, troubleshooting, and optimization of water and chemical treatment systems
? Support or lead project planning, scheduling, execution, and close-out activities
? Collaborate with design, operations, and client teams to ensure solutions meet technical, budgetary, and site-specific requirements
? Participate in commissioning, performance testing, and development of operational guidelines and manuals
? Travel to site locations to perform audits, collect data, troubleshoot systems, and engage with operators and clients
? Assist with technical proposal development, solution design, and costing for new business opportunities
? Monitor regulatory compliance and environmental impact, supporting reporting requirements
? Develop and deliver operator training and performance improvement plans
? Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to, especially on mining or industrial sites

 

What you?ll need:
? BEng in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (completed)
? 2 - 4 years? relevant work experience in process engineering, water treatment, or industrial plant operations
? Exposure to or experience with project management principles
? Site-based experience (commissioning, optimization, or operations) preferred
? Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Python and process simulation tools advantageous
? Valid South African driver?s license and willingness to travel regularly to Mpumalanga (Witbank) region
? Strong verbal and written communication skills
? Must be a South African citizen or have legal eligibility to work in South Africa

What?s in it for you:
The total cost-to-company (CTC) for this role is approximately R480 000 per annum, with an estimated net salary of R396 000 per annum.

Requirements 

  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate


  • A current NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check (we can support you through the process of obtaining one or both checks if you don?t already have them).


  • The ability and relevant driver?s license to perform travel and work a variety of shifts, including weekends. Position may also require working active nights.


  • Compliance with OHS&W regulations, legislation, and Policies and Procedures is required. Successful completion of pre-employment safety screening checks, mandatory training, and their subsequent renewals is necessary.
