JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Department for Technical Product Marketing, will be a Fellow Actuary (FASSA registered) or close to completing all Actuarial Examinations, and will be responsible for sales and distribution, leadership and strategy, leading a weekly product and distribution committee, responsibility for Health Product launches and post-launch training, and ownership of all market insights, broker communication, opportunity analytics and thought leadership.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Qualified Actuary or close to completion of Actuarial exams (required)
  • Fellow of the Actuarial Society of SA (required)
  • 5+ years? experience in healthcare preferably or within broader financial services sector (consulting, marketing, product management and/or pricing roles)
  • Management consulting experience, R&D experience, Client-facing experience
  • Leadership (required)
  • Communication (Verbal and Written)
  • Sales and Distribution expertise (required)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

  • Sales and distribution leadership and strategy:
    • Chair of health engagement steercom, responsible for retention strategy development, curating and deployment.
    • Standing responsibilities of critical business forums, including Health Go-to-Market Steercom, R&D Steercom, Manco
  • Full ownership of content, positioning, curating and delivery of the Launch and post-launch distribution for Health
    • SA CEO engagement to position all R&D and innovation updates for the year
    • Development and delivery of highly technical and well-positioned collateral to support the rollout of the launch
    • Comprehensive post-launch training schedule, presentation and engagement with all distribution channels to ensure optimal product uplift.
  • Manage actuarial and statistical support for:
    • Effective product positioning.
    • demonstrating thought leadership in product design and development; and
    • differentiated marketing and sales collateral
  • Stay at the forefront of industry insights, including:
    • Competitor intelligence, through product comparisons and data sheets
    • Industry intelligence, through collation and analysis of market position, as well as local and international trends
    • Investigations to support R&D decision-making and strategy
  • Provide technical marketing support for various sales and distribution channels, including:
    • Maintaining up-to-date technical marketing collateral and tools
    • Ownership of all technical sales and positioning requirements
    • Contributing to continuous professional development of distribution support channels
  • Ownership of new business proposals, tenders and employer executive engagement
    • End-to-end coordination and delivery of all new business key opportunities
