Job Description

Afcons Infrastructure Limited is an Indian multinational construction and engineering company based in Mumbai. The company provides infrastructure services and is involved in the construction of infrastructure projects such as viaducts, flyovers, metros, bridges, pipelines, roads, ports, barrages, oil and gas projects etc
Roles and Responsibilities 01
Planning and Mobilizing the Project
  • Co-ordination with project team for the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly programs.
  • Interpretation of drawings and ensuring execution as per the drawings.
  • Execution of works as per approved method statement. Supervision and monitoring of construction works, ensuring adherence to quality.
  • Development of overall site plan in line with budget / construction schedule for assigned Section.
  • Reporting daily progress and maintaining Daily Progress Report (DPR).
  • Coordination with consultants and clients with Daily Progress Reports (DPR) and request for information (RFI) validations.
  • Co-ordination with consultants, sub-contractors, and clients.
  • Establishment of project infrastructure as per contract / work requirement.
  • Coordinating with client representative to start the work as per the base schedule, land acquisition and for other consents to fulfil statutory and contractual requirements.
  • Obtaining mandatory licenses, approvals and clearances required for project establishment (Across functions) from State / Central Govt departments (as applicable and as per contractual provisions).
Roles and Responsibilities 02
Executing work at site ensuring adherence to quality norms
  • Preparing the workplan.
  • Studying and understanding the contract, technical specifications and executing the respective activity at site accordingly.
  • Understanding the methodology for major activities provided in the contract and executing the work as per approved methodology.
  • Informing Section Incharge and get guidance if any changes required in the approved methodology, as per site conditions.
  • Understanding the scope of work and its payment entitlements as per contract technical specifications and bill of quantities (BOQs).
  • Maintaining the record of joint measurements of work done (duly signed by client representatives) for claiming client bills.
  • Ensuring overall delivery of tasks pertaining to site as per timelines, project specifications, AFCONS procedures and quality standards.
  • Interacting with Piece Rate Contractor, Subcontractor and departmental workmen and make them understand the works to be executed and targets to be achieved as per workplan.
  • Supervising the works in line with contract technical specifications and ensuring quality of works as per Quality Management Procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities 03
Executing work at site ensuring adherence to quality norms contd..
  • Minimizing waste of major materials and ensuring the wastages are well within the budget limit.
  • Preparing measurements for Piece Rate Contractors and Subcontractor works as per work order and sending it to site Quantity Survey department for payments.
  • Maintaining the records for materials in permanent and temporary works and providing the same to site Quantity Survey department on monthly basis for reconciliation purpose.
  • Identifying if any work is deviated from contract specifications, and found if any, the same is to be informed to Section Incharge for further course of action.
  • On-site execution of work at site as per planned budget and specifications.
  • Identifying opportunities for application of good engineering practices / innovative practices to enhance quality of delivery and communicating the same to the Section-In-Charge and Construction Manager.
  • Executing EPC projects involving construction of River Diversion Works (Diversion Tunnel / Channel), Coffer Dam, Concrete of Dam / CFRD / Barrage, Underground Tunnelling, Caverns, Adit / MAT, Head Race Tunnel / Tail Race Tunnel / Surge Shaft / Pressure Shaft and inform Shift In charge
Roles and Responsibilities 04
Overseeing optimum resource utilization at site
  • Allocating resources such as equipment, materials, and manpower as per requirement of each activity. Avoiding resources to remain idle and ensuring its optimum usage.
  • Identifying areas for waste reduction.
  • Ensuring availability of manpower by raising timely requisitions to the Section In-charge.
  • Ensuring timely induction of manpower and equipment at the start of every shift. Ensuring timely completion of activities and balance work is to be carried out in subsequent shift.
Build and sustain harmonious relationships with external entities
  • Ensuring regular interactions and cordial relations with clients.
  • Maintaining harmonious relations with subcontractors and subcontracted workmen
  • Maintaining cordial relations with local community and community representatives
Roles and Responsibilities 05
Safety Management
  • Ensuring that safety is a top priority and striving to ensure zero incidents / accidents.
  • Adhering to safety goals, policies, guidelines, processes, and any new implementation by AFCONS management / authorities / client / customer.
  • Regularly reviewing safety performance and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Collaborating with project safety department to ensure that safety workshops, safety drills, and safety awareness programs are conducted to increase safety awareness among the project team.
  • Developing a safety culture within the project team and encouraging all team members to take responsibility for safety.
  • Ensuring that all safety equipment are in place and used properly.
Adhering to IMS (Integrated Management System) guidelines and specifications
  • Ensuring security and safety of team / employees, local community and individuals directly impacted by construction activities
  • Maintaining prescribed quality standards related to protection of environment and health.

Key Objective of the Job Position
  • To execute contractual milestones at the site within the targeted time keeping safety, health, environmental and quality parameters within norms specified, in the interests of the client and AFCONS.
Education Qualifications
Educational Essential : Bachelor s Degree in Civil Engineering
Educational Desirable : Master s Degree in Civil Engineering
Computer Software Proficiency
MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point, AUTOCAD
Experience Range
Minimum 5 to 14 years of experience in projects involving the construction of Marine Jetties, Berths, Breakwater, LNG Tanks, Harbors, Quay Wall, Material Handling, Industrial Structures and Green Energy Projects
Work Environment
Work in all climatic conditions, at heights and underground works. Need to split their time between working in an office and working outdoors at construction sites so that they can monitor operations or solve problems May need to work extra hours to ensure that the projects meet their deadlines. May need to travel to project sites at domestic or overseas location. Deal & convince all types of people (including labour to project manager & clients), Maintain a high-level safety standard at project site as civil construction work is risk prone. Maintain a high level of social contact.
