Site Manager - Contract Logistics

Department: Operations / Contract Logistics Reports to: Cluster / Contract Logistics Manager Employment Type: Permanent JOB PURPOSE The Site Manager is responsible for the overall operational performance of an allocated site, including warehouse operations, office administration, information systems, and customer service delivery. The role ensures that all operational, financial, and service-level objectives are achieved while maintaining compliance with health, safety, quality, and legal standards. This position plays a critical role in driving efficiency, cost control, people management, and client satisfaction, while supporting strategic objectives at cluster level. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Management Oversee daily warehouse, distribution, and site operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and productivity. Manage end-to-end warehouse processes including inbound, outbound, inventory control, order fulfillment, and value-added services. Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions where required. Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety regulations. Client & Stakeholder Management Act as the primary on-site contact for key clients. Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are consistently met or exceeded. Handle escalations, resolve operational issues, and maintain strong client relationships. Conduct regular client performance reviews and present operational reports. Prepare and present Monthly and Quarterly Management Business Reviews (MBRs). People Management Lead, motivate, and develop site teams including supervisors, warehouse operatives, and administrative staff. Manage workforce planning, training, performance management, and succession planning. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and high performance. Manage outsourced labour and ensure compliance with labour legislation. Financial & Commercial Management Manage site budgets and implement effective cost control measures. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and operational efficiencies. Support the commercial team with contract renewals, scope changes, and growth opportunities (e.g. co-packing and value-added services). Compliance, Health & Safety Ensure adherence to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards. Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for regulatory compliance. Ensure compliance with local labour laws and statutory requirements. KEY STAKEHOLDERS Internal Direct Reports Senior Management Human Resources Finance Business Development External Customers / Clients Suppliers Local and National Authorities QUALIFICATIONS Minimum: Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field Preferred: Bachelor?s Degree in Supply Chain / Logistics / Business Management Professional certifications in Supply Chain, Operations, or Project Management MBA or equivalent (advantageous) EXPERIENCE Minimum 3?5 years? experience in warehouse or site management Proven leadership and people management experience Experience managing dedicated facilities for single or key customers Strong background in warehouse operations and inventory management Retail, FMCG, or contract logistics industry experience (preferred) Exposure to value-added services and co-packing operations (advantageous) SKILLS & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Core Skills Warehouse & Distribution Operations Management Inventory Control & Stock Management KPI Monitoring & Performance Management Budgeting & Cost Control Client Relationship & SLA Management Health & Safety Compliance Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement Technical & Commercial Skills End-to-end warehouse process knowledge Value-added operations and light production line management Commercial awareness and opportunity identification Reporting, data analysis, and problem-solving Soft Skills Strong verbal and written communication (English) Leadership, coaching, and team development Conflict resolution and stakeholder management Analytical thinking and decision-making under pressure KEY ATTRIBUTES Strong personal drive, resilience, and accountability Ability to manage diverse and outsourced workforces Innovative mindset with strong problem-solving ability High attention to detail and compliance awareness Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment Strong understanding of labour law and regulatory requirements LANGUAGES English: Fluent (spoken and written) OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid Driver?s License Willingness to work flexible hours if required .. |
