2nd Class Mechanics test, manufacture, troubleshoots, and repair machinery and shipboard mechanical systems. This technician performs a wide-variety of different tasks depending on the needs of the company.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Active Secret Clearance and Base Access; Candidates currently possessing an Active Secret Clearance are preferred.

Basic knowledge of maritime mechanical systems;
Navy tag-out, WAF programs and applicable Naval procedures / instructions;
Working knowledge of QWI and associated forms;
OSHA safety practices;
Maritime Safety practices;
Knowledge of shipboard mechanical machinery equipment such as main propulsion machinery, auxiliary machinery and hydraulics;
Able to disassemble, and inspect Hull, Mechanical and Electric (HM&E) equipment with limited supervision;
Able to disassemble, clean, and inspect, reassemble and operationally test mechanical systems;
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems components such as valves, bearings, gears, remote operators, couplings, system alignment, etc;
Versed in the use of common precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and torque wrenches;
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals;
Working knowledge of trade mathematics and formulas in order to calculate torque conversion, pressure & temperature specification parameters.
Must be able to obtain & maintain an Active Secret Clearance and Base Access. Candidates currently possessing an Active Secret Clearance are preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum four (4) years’ experience.
Navy ‘A’ / ‘C’ school(s) or completion of a vocational, maritime, or journeyman training program.
Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Must pass drug screening.
