The motorcoach operator (MCO) is responsible for the safe operation of all assigned company equipment including, but not limited to passenger cars and motorcoaches up to 45 feet in length. The MCO is responsible for passengers and their safety while loading, unloading and in transit including assisting passengers on and off the motorcoach. All MCOs must have the ability to work on demand including early mornings, business hours, nights, weekends and holidays as needed. We are a service organization specializing in transportation, therefore, a customer service focused, outgoing attitude is a must.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Read, write, and speak English fluently.
Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner that is legible and neat.
Possess and maintain a Commercial Drivers License: Class B with Air Brakes and Passenger endorsement minimum.
Possess and maintain a DOT physical.
Safely, efficiently, and courteously drive all company vehicles including motorcoaches up to 45’ in length on all public highways and required private property, including cities and mountainous regions in all weather conditions. Knowledge of defensive driving techniques is a plus.
Maintaining a driving record that is free of all major traffic citations and accidents.
Ability to load / unload passenger baggage by hand. Individual bags may be up to 50 pounds.
Treat all passengers, company personnel, and others associated with your assigned work in a courteous and professional manner.
Work with other company personnel as members of a team. This requires the Driver to coordinate activities with others, and to function simultaneously as a whole unit.
Specific Job Duties and Activities:
Operate motorcoaches, and other company vehicles, as dispatched on charter trips, tours, or any other assignments as required.
Plan, coordinate, and interface with other drivers and company personnel to execute the dispatch trip as a team. This will require advance trip planning, and communication with both office staff and fellow motorcoach operators while on duty.
Operator will need to communicate with maintenance personnel to troubleshoot any issue while away from the main office and may be required to make minor repairs to continue safe operation as directed by maintenance personnel.
Fuel the vehicle when needed or, at a minimum, the end of each trip.
Perform and document daily vehicle inspections to be performed prior to each departure to ensure safe and reliable operation of the equipment. These checks will include but not limited to tire pressure checks and fluid levels.
Document daily hours of service logs.
MCO must complete Charter envelopes to include all mileage reporting in accordance with IFTA requirements, manage receipts for all expenses, and other paperwork as required.
All paper work is to be submitted in a timely manner following the completion of the assignment.
Call/check in frequently with company dispatch
Attend all safety meetings and other required events.
All other duties as assigned.
