Quality Engineer

Job Title: QUALITY ENGINEER - AEROSPACE

Position Reports To: Quality Manager

Summary Description

Responsible for implementing and analyzing quality policies and procedures to ensure quality improvement efforts will meet or exceed internal and external customers? needs and expectations.

Essential Functions

• Lead process/product internal and external quality audits

• Identify and implement appropriate statistical metrics and methods

• Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, work instructions, and inspection checklists

• Develop, implement and modify quality system procedures to ensure continued compliance with ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004, and industry standards

• Analyze data and identify trends to improve quality systems? overall compliance, effectiveness and efficiency

• Training of personnel on quality principles and tools

• Participate in new product development projects

• Participate, lead and facilitate problem solving teams

• Interaction with other facilities and suppliers

• Participate in supplier development

• Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned

Skills Or Experience Required

B.S. degree is required, engineering or science field is highly desired. Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in a product quality/manufacturing environment. Understanding of metrology, with the ability to utilize several types of measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is required. Knowledge of ISO 9000 compliance is required; ISO 14001:2004 experience is preferred.

Must have the ability to identify and implement statistical metrics and measures. Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Must possess excellent problem solving and organizational skills and have the ability to handle multiple projects and the flexibility to change when necessary. Blueprint reading skills are desired.

• Lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to chest

• Carry up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis up to 25 feet

• Push/pull between 75-100 lbs. of force on lever arms on a frequent basis
