Job Title: Structural Steel Designer

Location: Kochi, Kerala, India

Experience: 5-8 Years

Mode: on-site


Role Objective

To prepare accurate and detailed structural steel drawings for fabrication and erection, ensuring compliance with approved design drawings, codes, and project specifications, and supporting smooth fabrication and site execution.



Key Responsibilities

Study approved structural design drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

Prepare General Arrangement (GA), shop fabrication, and erection drawings for steel structures such as industrial buildings, warehouse buildings, pipe racks, platforms, sheds, and supports.

Develop detailed drawings for beams, columns, bracings, trusses, stairs, handrails, and miscellaneous steel items.

Prepare connection detailing based on approved connection designs and sketches.

Generate material lists, bolt summaries, and fabrication drawings as per project standards.

Coordinate with structural designers to resolve detailing queries and RFIs.

Incorporate comments from CLIENT, PMC, and fabricators and issue revised drawings in a timely manner.

Support fabrication and site teams by providing clarifications during fabrication and erection stages.

Maintain proper drawing registers, revisions, and documentation control.



Software & Tools

AutoCAD

MS Excel for material take-offs and tracking

Familiarity with fabrication and erection practices



Qualification & Experience

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil / Mechanical Engineering

3–7 years of experience in structural steel detailing for industrial / heavy structural projects



Key Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of structural steel components and detailing standards

Knowledge of IS codes related to steel fabrication and detailing

High attention to detail and drawing accuracy

Good coordination and communication skills

Practical understanding of fabrication and erection processes



Key Deliverables

Approved GA, shop, and erection drawings

Accurate fabrication drawings and material lists

Timely incorporation of review comments and revisions
